Molly Ringwald, John Hughes Didn't Speak After Long Time

Molly Ringwald, John Hughes Didn't Speak for 20 Years.

In a tribute to the late John Hughes, Molly Ringwald rose to fame after appearing in his 1984 teen flick Sixteen Candles - reveals she hadn't spoken to the famed 80s director "in more than 20 years."

The 41-year-old actress, who also starred Hughes' 1985 classic The Breakfast Club and 1986's Pretty in Pink, admits that she'll "always be the girl whose 16th birthday is forgotten" thanks to her breakout role in Candles. But she didn't always feel that way.

Detailing their working relationship in a tribute to the late writer-director, who died of a heart attack on Aug. 6, there is always that special person who shapes who you are, who helps to determine the person you become. For me, that person was John Hughes."

Now starring on the American Teenager, Ringwald was a teen when she had leading roles in Hughes's 1985 classic The Breakfast Club and 1986's Pretty in Pink. But she now admits that she'll "always be the girl whose 16th birthday is forgotten" due to her breakout role in Hughes's 1984 Sixteen Candles.

"John saw something in me that I didn't even see in myself," she observes. "Eventually, though, I felt that I needed to work with other people as well. I wanted to grow up, something I felt (rightly or wrongly) I couldn't do while working with John."

And this led to a schism between them. Ringwald says the director held grudges that "were almost supernatural things," and she wondered if turning down roles in subsequent Hughes projects could have been "what he found so unforgivable" and ultimately led to her not talking to him "in more than 20 years."

But 15 years ago, she wrote Hughes a letter, telling the reclusive filmmaker "how important he was to me."More Photos here.

"A week after I sent my letter, I received a bouquet of flowers as big as my apartment from John, thanking me for writing," she recalled. "I was so relieved to know that I had gotten through to him, and I feel grateful now for that sense of closure."

Mila Kunis: A Total BABE And FUNNY , like "Kissing Kutcher"

Mila Kunis: Don't Ask What it was like "Kissing Kutcher" and
The Superficial - Mila Kunis hates talking about Ashton Kutcher

From her stardom-inducing role as the saucy Jackie Burkhart in "That '70s Show" to voicing awkward Meg Griffin on this little show called "Family Guy," 25-year old Mila Kunis could probably go into early syndicated retirement. But not this actress. Her career continues to jump leaps and bounds, from the Apatow hit "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" to the upcoming Bateman comedy "Extract."
Details magazine interviews Mila in their September issue. You can read the full interview on Details' Web site. And the funny, crushable girl isn't afraid of taking the leap into leading lady land. Just two words of advice if you ever meet Mila: DO talk about video games. DON'T talk about Ashton Kutcher.

A woman asked me, 'So! Was Ashton a prankster on set?' I went, 'Oh my God. For real?' That's while I know the interview's going sour -- when they ask me what it was like "kissing Kutcher". The show's been off the air for four years. It's just no longer cute or funny.

"I'm going to hell so fast. Like, on an escalator. It's going to be a straight shot. There's not even going to be a stop in limbo."

Speaking of "Family Guy," creator Seth MacFarlane even chimed in and told Details about Mila's rather famous voice ... basically Fran Drescher minus ten notches of shrill.

MacFarlane on Kunis' million-dollar vocal cords:

"There's no question that if you're standing next to a jet engine and having a conversation with Mila Kunis, you’ll be able to hear her just fine."
"I'd be like, 'Okay, are we done yet? Because I've gotta go home. Like I really gotta go.'"

I think she just locked down the gamer base of fan. she's got every inner or outer geek totally smitten.

Mel Gibson's Pregnant Girlfriend: We "Don't Know"

She says they have opted not to learn the sex of the child.

"I'm already buying things in gender-neutral colors.
It's very cute," says Grigorieva, who also has a 12-year-old son, Alexander, with actor Timothy Dalton.

In her first television interview since going public with Mel Gibson, Oksana Grigorieva tells CNN she isn't sure she'll wed the 53-year-old actor.
They made their first public appearance together at a Los Angeles screening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on April 28 - the same month Gibson and his wife of nearly 30 years (and mother of his seven children), Robyn, filed for divorce.

Despite intense scrutiny, Grigorieva says her relationship with Gibson has inspired her music. The actor directed four of her music videos.

"If you think about it, every talent needs a serious push and help from somebody who is stronger, because it's pretty much impossible for anybody to succeed in this industry," she says. "So I've become very lucky, and I'm very grateful."

She says they have opted not to learn the sex of the child.

"I'm already buying things in gender-neutral colors. It's very cute," says Grigorieva, who also has a 12-year-old son, Alexander, with actor Timothy Dalton.

Adds Grigorieva, "You don't control the situations or the people you meet. I did not plan this. I'm just doing what I've always been doing. It's not like I've changed my goals at all."

Before beginning press for the new album, Beautiful Heartache, she says Gibson even gave her some advice: "Just be myself and speak the truth. What I most like to talk about is my music and Beautiful Heartache. And that's pretty much it".

Tori Spelling ,Candy not to attend her granddaughter's first birthday party.

Tori Spelling's mother insists it "killed her" not to attend her granddaughter's first birthday party.

Dean McDermott defended his wife Tori against her mom Candy's accusations that they use their kids as "reality show props."

McDermott told TMZ.com cameras at LAX airport: "We don't use our children as props. We take really good care of our children."

In response to Candy's open letter to TMZ.com last month in which Candy explained she skipped her granddaughter's first birthday party because it was a made-for-TV "set up," McDermott says, "Everyone's entitled to their opinion."

Candy has always maintained she didn't attend Stella's party as she did not want the reunion with her estranged daughter to be filmed.

Candy Spelling - who has previously accused Tori of engineering the meeting for her reality show 'Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood' - was unhappy not to meet Stella, but stands by her decision.

Despite insisting she wants to rebuild her relationship with Tori, Candy criticized her daughter's spending habits.

Candy - who has previously posted internet messages begging for reconciliation - said: "Everyone is complaining that they don't have any money now, and here Tori is doing these grand parties. She even rented a house for Stella's party."

However, Candy has not ruled out appearing in her own TV show. She revealed: "If it was the right thing and it was scripted, I would do it. I would not let someone follow me around all of the time. That would make me nuts."

Tori and Candy first fell out in 2006 after Tori mocked her mother on her reality TV show 'So NoTORIous'.

The feud was then exacerbated after late millionaire TV producer Aaron Spelling, Tori's late father and Candy's deceased husband, left his daughter a derisory amount in his will.Tori stayed out of the fray -- this time. She said the family was "really happy" on vacation and "hadn't read anything."

Last week, Candy tried to make nice to Tori in an interview with USA Today.

"I love you, and I always will," she told the paper.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Actor Liam Neeson has walked the red carpet for the first time since the death of his wife, actress Natasha Richardson.

Publicists at the New York City screening of Neeson's new film, "Five Minutes of Heaven," told members of the press Tuesday all personal questions were strictly off-limits.

The Oscar-nominated actor and father of two children with Richardson was asked what his version of heaven would be. The 57-year-old says it's being with his boys and he's "kind of living it at the moment."

Eddie Cibrian is speaking out for the first time since his split from wife Brandi Glanville.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the hunky actor says, "When you reach a certain point in your career you're placed in this unfair fishbowl. Things unfortunately get magnified.

In July, Glanville, 36-year-old mother of Cibrian's two children, Mason, 6, and Jake, 2, told Us Weekly she had left the actor, 36, because of his extramarital affairs.

Us Weekly first reported in March that Cibrian and then-married LeAnn Rimes had an affair while shooting a Lifetime movie.

Reports of Cibrian having another fling, with 24-year-old model Scheana Marie Jancan, surfaced in July.

And, as Us Weekly also reported, he had still not cooled things off with Rimes. They were seen again together in the early afternoon of July 17. (In late July, Us reported that Rimes and husband Dean Sheremet had separated.)

Actor Eddie Cibrian has spoken out about the "hurtful" stories following his alleged offscreen romance with country star/actress LeAnn Rimes, confessing no one's perfect.

"We are all human, we are all not perfect. The fact is I love my family dearly, and I'm a great father. It just saddens me that this is hurtful and being played out publicly."The scandal started when Cibrian and Rimes were caught kissing over dinner by a restaurant's surveillance camera and footage leaked onto the Internet.

In 'American Idol' Auditions "Icy and Wooden",Victoria Beckham Dubbed

Victoria Beckham is earning mixed reviews for her guest-judging stint on "American Idol." The erstwhile Posh Spice looked chic, if impossibly svelte, in a form-fitting strapless purple gown as she filled Paula Abdul's empty chair at auditions in Denver on Friday, but her singing critiques are being met with some harsh criticism of their own.

"It didn't go too well," says a mole. "She tried too hard to be 'nice,' but came off as icy and wooden."

The seemingly Stilted Spice says she's "beyond excited" to be stomping all over the warbling ambitions of the general public alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.

"When I got the phone call, I just couldn't believe it. I feel like I got the best job. I'm still grinning from ear to ear," she bubbled to "AI" host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Friday."I'm going to try hard to pout and not shatter the illusion that I'm a moody cow, but I don't know if I can -- I'm just so happy."

The former Spice Girl added that she hopes to carry on Paula's role as the nicer one, because she knows.

"what it feels like to stand there and be judged and how it can feel when nerves really get the better of you," she explained. "I don't want to shatter anybody's dream. But at the same time, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of constructive criticism."

"I'm a spiritual person, and I believe you get back what you put out there," says Posh. "I hope she does something that's bigger and better, and I hope she's going to be happy. She's great so she's going to be good at whatever she does."

Major Michael Jackson tribute planned for Vienna

Major Michael Jackson tribute planned for Vienna

VIENNA (AP) -- The King of Pop will get a royal send-off next month in Vienna.

Events promoter World Awards Media GmbH confirmed Monday that members of Michael Jackson's family and a "high-profile lineup of international stars" are planning a tribute concert in the Austrian capital.

Organizers said the venue will be the sprawling grounds of Vienna's former imperial Schoenbrunn Palace, where a giant outdoor multimedia stage shaped like a crown will be built.

Jackson's brother Jermaine said recently that Vienna was special for Michael, who "loved castles." Tickets will go on sale Aug. 20.

"For one incredible night Michael Jackson's unforgettable music will be brought to life again," World Awards Media said on its Web site. "Some of the world's leading artists will perform Michael's greatest hits live in Vienna in front of one of the most fascinating historical sites in Europe and celebrate the life of the 'King of Pop.'"

Organizers said Jermaine Jackson and other family members "will lead a high-profile lineup of international stars on stage to celebrate the life of his brother and perform some of Michael's unforgettable songs."

They would not confirm reports that the tribute may include U2, Madonna, Lionel Richie and Whitney Houston.

World Awards Media chief Georg Kindel said Monday it would be held in the first part of September. Jackson died June 25 in Los Angeles.

Many had expected the tribute to be held in London, where Jackson was booked to perform a series of concerts, or a larger European capital such as Berlin, Paris or Rome.

But Friday, on "Larry King Live," Jermaine Jackson said Vienna was "a very dear place for Michael."

"And he loved castles. And we're going to have this huge celebration in front of a castle," Jermaine Jackson said.

Spokespeople for promoters AEG Live, which had been organizing Jackson's London concerts, had no immediate comment on the Vienna tribute. But London fans expressed displeasure.

"If he likes castles, they could've done it anywhere in the UK. We've got them here, too," said Peter Chowng, a 42-year-old London businessman.

Kindel said he hoped to secure official permission within the next eight days to hold the concert at Schoenbrunn.

The venue has enough standing room to accommodate 85,000 people. The daily Oesterreich said giant screens would be set up in parks around Vienna to handle the huge overflow crowds expected.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Schoenbrunn dates to the 14th century, but it's best known for more recent occupants: members of the royal Habsburg dynasty, which ruled the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Jermaine Jackson said, in a statement on World Awards Media's Web site, that the concert was conceived as an annual event to keep alive not only Michael Jackson's music, "but his spirit as well."

Kindel said a "not insignificant" portion of the proceeds would go to the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, which helps patients who can't afford heart surgery.

Monday's announcement drew an angry reaction from an organization calling itself Resistance for Peace Vienna.

The group, citing Jackson's legal entanglements over allegations of child molestation, sent Vienna City Hall and Schoenbrunn's supervisory board a letter urging authorities not to approve the plan "for ethical reasons."

Associated Press Writer Karolina Tagaris in London contributed to this report.

NEW YORK — Celebrity mom Kate Gosselin (GAHS'-lihn) says she still wears her wedding ring for her eight children, but feels a lot of failure that the marriage is over.

"In everybody's life, you make sacrifices," Gosselin said, referring to her staying with the show. "Everybody has to work. Everybody has a job. Ours is a very unique job. ... "I still feel like this is a good thing. It's healthy. And the kids would agree." Gosselin told "Today" host Meredith Vieira that she still wears her wedding ring for the sake of her eight children, but feels a lot of failure that the marriage is over. "This is not what any mother sets out for, for her children," Gosselin said, adding, "It's necessary. It has to take place." She greeted inquiries from Vieira about Jon Gosselin's alleged cheating during their marriage with a mix of vagueness and diplomacy, and said she couldn't recall exactly when he moved out of their Pennsylvania house.

"I think it's very clear that we are two different people at this point, with two different sets of goals," she summed up. She repeated her past denial of media reports that she had an affair with a bodyguard assigned to protect her for the show. "There is no affair. There has never been an affair," declared Gosselin. "It's just another crazy rumor. It sells tabloids."

Heidi Pratt brought a new accessory to Thursday's G.I. Joe premiere in Los Angeles: Her September Playboy issue.

The Hills star, 22, and husband Spencer Pratt debuted the buzzed-about issue on the red carpet as photographers snapped away. The cover shows Heidi in a skimpy white bikini with a Playboy bunny emblem carved out on her torso.

Spencer was so happy with his wife's cover that he even kissed the magazine several times for the shutterbugs.

Those expecting to see Heidi in the buff shouldn't get their hopes up.

"She's not nude," her sister Holly Montag recently told Usmagazine.com. "Her Maxim cover was so gorgeous and tasteful."

Not everyone is admiring Heidi's work.

Lauren Conrad mocked the cover in the August issue of Harper's Bazaar. Conrad was asked why Heidi decided to pose for Playboy. In a sly reference to Heidi's cosmetic enhancements, she replied, "They're not going to pay for themselves."

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler airlifted to hospital after onstage fall Unfortunately

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler taken to hospital after fall from stage during Sturgis concert: report

The singer of the hard-rock legends suffered head, neck and shoulder injuries after falling off the stage at a concert last night.

RAPID CITY, S.D.(AP)- Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was airlifted to a hospital after falling from stage during a concert at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western South Dakota.

Tyler, 61, fell while entertaining the crowd by dancing around after the sound system failed during the song "Love in an Elevator," said Mike Sanborn, spokesman for the Buffalo Chip Campground, which hosted the outdoor concert.

Tyler was on the stage's catwalk when he fell backward onto a couple of fans in the middle of what was a record crowd, Sanborn said. Security rushed to help him and the crowd cheered when Tyler got back up.

"He was good natured about it," Sanborn said. "He was in good spirits when he got in the helicopter. He was talking and joking with the physician."

"It was an unfortunate end to an extraordinary evening."
Aerosmith were forced to cut short their performance at a motorbike rally in South Dakota last night (Wednesday 5 August) after singer Steven Tyler fell off the stage and had to be airlifted to hospital.

According to reports, Tyler was injured during the band's performance of Love in An Elevator. While dancing onstage, Tyler reportedly fell backwards into the crowd at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, but was able to get up after security rushed to his aid.

Mike Sanborn, a spokesman for the Buffalo Chip Campground where the band were performing, told Associated Press: "He was good-natured about it. He was in good spirits when he got in the helicopter. He was talking and joking with the physician."

Tyler reportedly suffered head, neck and shoulder injuries, the extent of which have not been revealed.

Aerosmith established themselves in the early 70s with albums such as Toys in the Attic and Rocks, but it was in the late 80s and early 90s that the multimillion-selling band became household names. Though Aerosmith are essentially a hard-rock group, they are best known for their 1998 power ballad I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, the theme song to the film Armageddon, which starred, among others, the singer's daughter Liv Tyler.

Following Wednesday night's accident, Tyler was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital. His current condition is unknown, although eyewitness reports suggest his injuries were relatively minor.

Mills clearly wanted attention. While photographers snapped away, she showed off pamphlets with that read "Standing Together Against Cruelty" with a photo of a cute dog.She isn't the only one emulating Kate.
Indeed, Heather Mills walked the streets of New York City today with a 'do eerily familiar to that worn by the awful reality star.

China summons Aussie ambassador over Uighur visit easy

China summons Aussie ambassador over Uighur visit

BEIJING (AP) -- China summoned the Australian ambassador to protest a proposed visit to his country by an exiled Uighur leader whom Beijing accuses of instigating recent ethnic riots that killed nearly 200 people, the Foreign Ministry said Saturday.

Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun called the meeting with Geoff Raby because of the trip to Australia next week by U.S.-based Uighur activist Rebiya Kadeer, a ministry statement said.

China — one of Australia's most important trading partners — has made repeated requests to the Australian government to refuse her a visa.

"Zhang expressed China's strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the Australian side on its allowing the visit," the ministry said.

The Chinese government says 197 people died and more than 1,700 were wounded in ethnic violence in early July in China's predominantly Muslim region of Xinjiang. Beijing blames Kadeer for fomenting the unrest.

Kadeer, who heads the pro-independence World Uyghur Congress, an overseas group, has denied involvement in the rioting that broke out between Turkic-speaking Uighur residents and Han Chinese —

China's majority ethnic group.

On Wednesday, Kadeer said in Japan that 10,000 Uighur protesters had disappeared after the riots, and she demanded an international investigation.

The 62-year-old former businesswoman from Xinjiang is to attend a screening of a documentary about her life at the Melbourne International Film Festival on Aug. 8, and address the National Press Club in Canberra in a nationally televised speech on Aug. 11.

Organizers said Saturday the film festival's Web site had been attacked for a second time. Online ticket sales were unavailable after an "attack of Chinese

origin" resulted in all tickets being booked, a posting on the site said.

Late last month, hackers posted a Chinese flag on the festival's Web site in an apparent protest at Kadeer's planned appearance.

Festival director Richard Moore said the cyberattacks appeared to be well organized and would hurt the organizers financially because online transactions accounted for some 65 percent of all ticket sales. Tickets were still available at the box office or by phone.

"It's a very, very concerted and pointed attack,"

Moore said.

The incident was reported to police, but they were unlikely to be able to do anything about it because the attack appeared to have come from overseas.

Moore said last week an official from the Chinese consulate in Melbourne asked him to pull the documentary about Kadeer. Chinese filmmakers — including Venice Film Festival winner Jia Zhangke — have withdrawn their movies to protest her visit.

"The WUC led by Kadeer is believed to have masterminded the July 5 Xinjiang riots that left at least 197 people dead and 1600 others injured," Xinhua said.

Australia has rebuffed Chinese objections over Kadeer's visit, saying she is not a "terrorist" and there is no reason to exclude her.

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said Kadeer had been given a visa for next week's visit, during which she will launch a documentary about her life and meet members of Australia's Uighur community.

"This will be, I think, her third private visit," Smith told Sky News on Thursday.

"We have no evidence or information that she's a terrorist and so she has been granted a visa in accordance with our usual immigration procedures."

Sony Pictures invests in new Zhang Yimou movie and Blood Simple remake

Sony Pictures invests in new Zhang Yimou movie and Blood Simple remake

HONG KONG (AP) -- The art house division of Sony Pictures Entertainment says it has invested in Chinese director Zhang Yimou's first film since he designed the Beijing Olympics' opening and closing ceremonies last year.
Sony Pictures Classics owns the rights to the film in North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand.

Sony Pictures Classics said it formed a "production partnership" with Zhang for his adaptation of the Coen brothers' 1984 movie "Blood Simple," and has bought its distribution rights in North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand.

Bebe Lerner, a publicist for Sony Pictures Classics, declined to say how much the company was investing.

The comedy-thriller is about the owner of a Chinese noodle shop whose plan to kill his cheating wife and her lover "spins out of control after the introduction of a gun into the lives of characters more accustomed to knives and swords," Sony Pictures Classics said in a statement sent to The Associated Press late Friday.

The 1984 original starring Frances McDormand is about a Texas bar owner who hires a private detective to kill his wife and her lover. The movie won the Grand Jury Prize for best film at the United States Film Festival — the predecessor to the Sundance Film Festival —
helping establish Joel and Ethan Coen's reputations.

The brothers went on to make a string of successful films including "Fargo," "The Big Lebowski," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "No Country for Old Men," which won Oscars for best picture and best director.

Beijing New Picture Film Co. publicist Ping Xue said Thursday Zhang's adaptation — starring Chinese actor Sun Honglei, comedian Xiao Shenyang and actress Yan Ni — was currently filming in Beijing and will be released in December.
"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" producer Bill Kong is
serving the same role on Zhang's new film, which is called "San Qiang Pai An Jing Qi" in Chinese but doesn't have an English title yet.

The Chinese director, whose last film was the 2006 Chinese imperial court drama "Curse of the Golden Flower," is also scheduled to direct a gala celebrating the 60th anniversary of communist China on Oct. 1.
Zhang's credits also include "Raise the Red Lantern," "Red Sorghum," "To Live," "Ju Dou," "Hero" and the "House of Flying Daggers."

Sony Pictures Classics recently announced that it had acquired the distribution rights for the Chinese filmmaker’s upcoming movie, which will be a remake of the Coen Brothers' Blood Simple, the 1984 neo-noir film that launched their careers.
"The idea of a remake of Blood Simple as seen through the eyes of Zhang Yimou's masterful visual elegance and clever narrative twists is genius," said Sony Pictures Co-Presidents and Co-Founders Michael Barker and Tom Bernard in a joint statement. "Our continued partnership over the years with both Zhang Yimou and Bill Kong has always been so fruitful. We are excited to be back in business with them."
"I am very happy working with Sony Pictures Classics again, they have always done a great job and I am looking forward to be with them again," said Yimou, who is remaking a film for the first time.

"I am so excited to be with Tom and Michael again, especially as this is the first film from Zhang Yimou after his 2008 Olympic Opening Event," Kong said.

Ashley Tisdale Says Kissing Zac Efron ,Too Much Tongue

Ashley Tisdale Kisses, Disses Zac Efron

Ashley Tisdale Says Kissing Zac Efron Was 'Disgusting'
Ashley Tisdale claims it was “disgusting” having to kiss co-star Zac Efron when he made a cameo on her show.

Few pieces of man-pretty come around these days that could make a girl quiver with the single bat of a long, thick eyelash. That's why, um, some people, watch Vanessa Hudgens' every move, hoping she messes up somehow so one day said people can replace their simulated make-out sessions with Zac Efron's "Bop" pullout with the real deal. That is, until Ashley Tisdale had to come around and spontaneously tapdance all over many, many peoples' pipe dreams. Many girls may be shocked to hear that she was far from happy about having to kiss the Hollywood heartthrob

"I did kiss Zac, though... That was disgusting, actually," Tisdale said. "It was!" she added for emphasis, after realizing that the words coming out of her mouth were patently ridiculous.

"Efron’s my best friend and so he’s like my brother and I’ve never been attracted to him cause he looked like he was 12 when I met him," she added. "I’m like, first of all, it’s my best friend’s boyfriend, and it’s awkward enough," Tisdale continues. (Ah, we think we see where this is going.) "But it’s like kissing your brother almost…"

New theory: Ashley's just pretending that her tonsil hockey session with Zac was gross so that Vanessa doesn't, like, pull her hair or something on the set of the next "High School Musical." Or maybe we just want to believe that Zac Efron makes out like a pro. And isn't Disney all about dreams and wishes your heart makes and all that stuff? We'll just forget she ever said anything.
We have some bad news for Megan Fox—apparently, Zac Efron does not taste like a strawberry cupcake. Ashley Tisdale had a chance to kiss the sizzling Hollywood hunk while filming The Suite Life of Zach and Cody.
